Message from our Chief Residents
Hello! Thank you for taking an interest in our MacNeal family.
We are a large, well-established family medicine residency with long-standing success in creating strong family medicine physicians. When we started here as interns two (plus) years ago we were strangers, but we will leave here as life-long friends. We chose MacNeal for different reasons. Ali is from Carmel, Indiana, and was intrigued by the opportunity to travel internationally to learn Spanish language skills, which she took advantage of this past winter in Guatemala. Elyse is from a small town in Ohio but wanted training in an urban environment to get exposure to a culturally diverse patient population. Both of us have found MacNeal to be a wonderful place to train and have found our fellow residents and coworkers to be an unending source of inspiration.
Our outpatient clinic is conveniently located across the street from the hospital and serves a diverse patient population that will prepare us to practice anywhere. Our faculty and staff create a supportive and challenging environment to facilitate life-long learning. With 39 residents, we have a call schedule that helps maintain a great work/life balance. This also means there is always someone around and willing to order food with you while on call!
Chicago is a great place to live. Half of our residents live in the city and half reside in the suburbs so we find ourselves hanging out in both locations. We manage to stay connected on our days off by going out to dinner and/or drinks, having trivia nights, checking out street fests, relaxing on the beach, attending various sporting events (Blackhawks, Bears, Cubs, White Sox, Chicago Fire), going to concerts; the list is endless.
We remember how stressful the interview process can be, but we hope you find MacNeal to be as wonderful as we do. Best of luck in your search and please do not hesitate to contact us with ANY questions you may have.
