Two highly respected urologic surgeons, Edward J. Kirsh, MD, and Joseph Kucera, MD, helped spread the American Cancer Society’s message about Prostate Cancer to the community during the fall with stories in the hospital’s community newsletter, a healthtips column in the local paper and a free prostate cancer screening which uncovered a 10% abnormal psa result among participants.

According to Dr. Kirsch, the facts are that one in six men have prostate cancer but it is a slow growing and curable disease. However, there are few early symptoms so screening is vital in order to detect the disease at the earliest stage.
