Conferences

Core Conference Series
Noon conferences cover the breadth of Internal Medicine, including:
Adolescent Medicine, Dermatology, Ethics, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine subspecialties, Practice Management, Radiology, Scholarly Activity, Sports Medicine, Medical Care of the Surgical Patient and Women's Health.

These conferences are presented by Vanguard MacNeal Residency Program faculty and members of the Vanguard MacNeal Hospital Medical Staff. Starting 2012, the residency programs have begun incorporating a large-group, Problem-Based Learning format for noon conferences. These case-based, interactive sessions engage the learners, stimulate the critical thinking process and develop evidence-based medicine questioning skills.

Acute Care Conference Series
This series of lectures given Monday-Wednesday-Friday during the months of July, August and September prepares interns for clinical situations they may encounter. It also serves as a clinical update for senior residents and faculty.

Journal Club
Senior residents lead this discussion of recent articles. Evidence-based medicine principles are reviewed and reinforced with the assistance of the faculty.

Scholarly Activity Forum
Third year residents present the results of their scholarly activity projects that were completed during their residency.
