CoC Performance Comparison

MacNeal Hospital as an approved cancer program of the American College of Surgeons" Commission on Cancer (CoC) reports its data to the National Cancer Data Base (NCDB), which is a nationwide oncology outcomes database, for Commission-accredited cancer programs in the United States and Puerto Rico.  Rates are computed based on data reported from CoC approved registries to the NCDB for the  breast and colon measures listed in the graphics based on compliance with national standards of care including National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines, CoC, and American Society for Clinical Oncology.

MacNeal Hospital's Cancer Program is categorized by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) as a Comprehensive Cancer Program and is comparing data to all the programs accredited by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer. Comparison information on performance rate displays all 2010 applicable cases reported by National Cancer Data Base for MacNeal Hospital, other comprehensive cancer programs (excluding MacNeal), State of Illinois, Great Lakes – Indiana and Michigan, and all CoC approved programs. CoC aims for 90% or higher performance rate benchmark for all measures of Breast Conserving Surgery & Radiation Therapy (BCS/RT), Multiagent Chemotherapy (MAC), Hormone Therapy (HT), and Adjuvant Chemotherapy (ACT).
