The Cancer Care Program at MacNeal is led by two UIC hematologist/oncologists, who are board-certified in internal medicine and hematology/oncology, and who work exclusively at MacNeal. The physicians are compassionate patient advocates, who work tirelessly to provide all patients with excellent care.
Sandeep Chunduri, MD & John Berry, MD
John Berry, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine at UIC (formerly of Hematology Oncology Associates of Illinois), has been on staff at MacNeal Hospital since 1999. In 2004, he was named chairman of their Department of Hematology and Oncology.
Sandeep Chunduri, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine at UIC, completed his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at UIC and served as Chief Fellow in 2008-2009. Prior to joining UIC, Dr. Chunduri was an associate member and research director of Midwest Center for Hematology/Oncology in Joliet.
Because of its research orientation, UIC has numerous cancer clinical trials that will be made available to all patients receiving therapy at MacNeal.
Additionally, we offer aggressive therapy for the prevention of lymphedema. This includes a customized evaluation, exercise and education. Should treatment be required, we offer Manual Lymphatic Drainage, compression bandaging and compression garments.
